What is Adsense?
Unless you are an Amish person you will have performed a Google search sometime recently. When you did, did you notice the ‘Sponsored Listings’ on the right side of the results page?
These are adverts. People and companies have paid to display their advert to you when you search for certain things.
So a company selling sunglasses may choose to have their ad appear when you search for: ’sunglasses’, ’sun cream’, ‘best sunglasses’, etc.
It’s an easy way for a company to get their ad in front of the EXACT customer they want. Someone actively looking for exactly what it is they sell.
This advertising system works well indeed for advertisers, and has worked very well for Google. This is how they make so much money.
Those adverts are called AdSense.
In Google’s bid for Total World Domination they have created a system that lets you display these AdSense ads on YOUR webpages and blog posts. why would you want to do this? Because Google pays you to.
That’s right. If you write a blog post about sunglasses, and you have AdSense running on your blog, then the sunglasses ads will automatically display next to your words. And when someone clicks on one of the adverts… cha-ching! You just got paid.
So if you display AdSense ads on your blog then your visitors who leave your blog via one of these relevant ads will earn you some money. Every single click.
If you have a specific product to sell on your webpage or blog then it may not work out profitable enough to give space to AdSense ads, but if you just have content to monetize then AdSense is a great way to do it.
It is a good way to start earning money from your blog right away without testing what affiliate programs or products sell best for you.
And there you have it. Simple pimple.
